Guitarist

Hear music featuring Ben as a guitarist.

Glaros’ obsession with the guitar took hold when he was twelve years old and discovered the raw power and creativity of 1960’s rock heroes like the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jimi Hendrix and Neil Young. He’s always had an appetite for learning and practicing and has formally studied classical guitar with Lawrence Zbikowski and Jeffrey Van, jazz with Dean Magraw and rock with Richard Lloyd as well as attended what is now the McNally Smith College of Music. But his hunger to learn and the pursuit of technique has never gotten in the way of his strong emotional connection to his music.

Ben’s explorations have taken him all over the musical map and he’s developed into one of the most versatile guitarists around. He has performed and recorded with an impressive array of projects: indie rock with the Wraparounds, Second Nature, the Pedestrians, the Middle States and Pill Hill, jazz with Your Neighborhood Trio and Bent Quartet, blues with the Cooker John Band, experimental folk pop with Fire Under Water and Fathom Lane…

While he’s never lost touch with his early inspirations, his musical influences have expanded to include such diverse artists as jazz greats John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery, rock iconoclasts Television and Sonic Youth, and modern guitar heroes Bill Frisell and Nels Cline.

Ben is a consummate professional in any musical setting. He loves to dive into new projects onstage and in the studio, as well as perform as a solo classical guitarist. Check out the video section for TV appearances with the Middle States and Your Neighborhood Trio, and the audio player for samples of his recent work with Fathom Lane, Pill Hill and Paul and Dave Pirner's collaboration "The Happy Roosters".  If you have questions about booking Ben as a solo performer or for a studio or live project, you can reach him via the contact page.
