What do you get when you put two excitable teens in the basement together with a bunch of musical toys and Mountain Dew, send them off into the adult world to carve their own paths for a few decades then bring them back to the basement again as established pros (with new toys)?
You guessed it...Mustang 87!
Steve Roehm and Ben Glaros dove into the world of music early on, jamming, learning and experimenting together at each other's houses and in the band room at Mounds View High School. They rocked many a school cafeteria, church basement and talent show before graduating to higher education and higher profile gigs. Nowadays you are likely to have seen Steve perform his magic on vibraphone with jazzy pop supergroup The New Standards, and Ben has emerged as an esteemed singer/songwriter and has contributed his formidable guitar skills to countless projects over the years.
The two lifelong musical friends have recently found themselves in the basement again, sharing new sounds and songs, and having a great time getting ready to share them with you. They’ve come a long way since the cassette four track days but the excitement of playing together is as fresh as ever.
The guitar is Ben Glaros' first love and he is one of the most instinctive and versatile musicians around. He has performed and recorded in an astonishing range of styles and always brings his distinct musical voice. See and hear audio, video and photos from his long musical history on up to his recent work with Fathom Lane here.
Ben Glaros loves sharing his musical gifts and experience as much as he loves playing and has become one of the Twin Cities most respected and in demand music instructors, offering lessons in guitar, songwriting and music theory. Learn more and access educational resources such as backing tracks, instructional videos and Ben's "Top Ten Tips for Developing Guitarists" here.
